2006 Ireland Invitational
August 24 - September 1, 2006

Hello Lads!

On the heels of the success of last year’s Ireland Father Son Invitational I have put together another superb golfing adventure to the Emerald Island for this August 2006.

Many of you have heard the tales of the mighty Ballybunnion, Arnold Palmer’s truly spectacular Tralee, and of course the tall tales both real and imagined of the famous Killorgin Puck Fair. Well some new venues have been added to the timeless classics and by your mere survival of a past Sterling Golf Tour adventure you are cordially invited to participate in this year’s excursion to Western Ireland. This year’s tour is limited to just 12 participants. We will depart on Thursday August 24, 2006 from the US and arrive the morning of August 25 where we’ll be met in Shannon by our new found friend, Paddy Curtain. (No shit that’s his name!) Paddy will escort us for the week in our luxury coach with our first stop at Killarney’s beautiful Mahoney’s Point Golf Club. Following this afternoon’s round we’ll check into The International Hotel in Killarney our home for the next 6 nights. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel.

Saturday August 26 … Day two will find us heading to the most westerly golf club in Europe, Ceann Seibeal or Sibil’s Head for the uninitiated. This remote location surrounded by mountains known as The Three Sister is at the very western tip of the Dingle Peninsula. Pub meal tonight on your own overnight at the Killarney International.

Sunday August 27 … This morning following the full Irish Fry we’ll head to what I believe is the truest championship test on the Emerald Island, Waterville Golf Club.
Each week prior to the Open Championship, Waterville hosts some of the world’s greats as they warm up for the third major championship of the year. Waterville is a truly great links. Overnight Killarney International.

Monday August 28 … Arnold Palmer’s mighty Tralee Golf Club is the host for today’s round. If there is a finer view in the world of golf I haven’t seen it. The reception here at Waterville is warm and inviting and you’ll no doubt wish to have a jar watching our friends limping up the 18th. Waterville will surely impress. Dinner tonight on your own, overnight Killarney Park.

Tuesday August 29 … Ballybunnion’s Cashen is today’s venue Robert Trent Jones’ masterpiece will require your patience and a steady hand. (something that by this stage of the week will be a chore.) We’ll have dinner tonight here at the club on your own before heading back Killarney for the night.

Wednesday August 30 … The Dooks Golf Club in Killorgin, County Kerry will offer you the same warm reception and remind those of you who have traveled before of the fabled views over the water at Gullane Golf Club. Dooks is the Gaelic word for Dunes so there is a very warm reception by the club for us from the Myrtle Beach area. Dinner tonight at the club on your own, overnight Killarney International.

Thursday August 31 … This morning we’ll bid farewell to our friends at the Killarney Park Hotel and head north to County Clare for our final round of this year’s tour at Lahinch.
Alistair Mackenzie’s additions to Old Tom Morris’ classic is a great way to finish a great trip. A Final Awards Dinner tonight here at the club will be included in the tour. Awards presentation and good craich’ will follow. Overnight Shannon

Friday September 1, 2006 … Depart Shannon for home.
